People tend to underestimate birds.

And it's easy to. They're everywhere. You can be in the middle of Times Square and still run into a stray pigeon. I paid no attention to birds for most of my life, and one day it peaked my interest, and you realize just how many species of birds there are (over 11,000!) and how unique they individually are, and boom. You're hooked.

Now here I am using my weekend mornings and PTO time to travel around in search of my next lifer, and I have never felt more at peace with what I'm doing.
